Joga Bonito Storify
gusbruggeman: Hey! Interesting Storify presentation! I’m wondering… Have you tried implementing the Joga Bonita play-style into your socer game? And, if so, how’s it been working out?

How Private and Virtual Ownership Function in the...
Although one rarely encounters a magician in person, the online community is incredibly diverse. From professionals to amateurs, hobbyists, and collectors range a wide variety of virtual resources. Some of these are magic product dealing websites and forums such as Penguinmagic.com, digitally-focused websites such as DanandDave.com, and video sharing sites – namely YouTube.com. What’s...

Etsy Storify
erinnk: It’s really interesting that online crafting marketplaces exist, because I actually had absolutely no idea about Etsy before your presentation. So, in addition to your art, have you put anything else up for sale? And do you have a favorite shop or user on Etsy?

Sabermetrics Storify
lampert19: This was a really cool presentation, and I learned quite a bit! As far as things with sabermetrics go, what do you generally look up (type of statistic)? And are there particular statistics that are more heavily valued than others within the community? If so, what are they and why?

ltulgren: Storify Presentation-DIS Boards I found this quite interesting. I was aware that there is a lot of online research that goes on for travel planning and such. However, I was wondering… Would you happen to know anything about the Disney Cruise Lines forum demographics? Or what the majority of their user-base is like?

anniehass: magichodge: /slideshow You’re presentation was coo! I liked how you showed the magic videos. I never knew there really was a difference between cardistry and magic and I liked learning about that! I also never knew there was such a variety between cards.  was wondering, on online forums about both topics, do people mostly share tricks or do they share their experience with...

Fantasy Football
This presentation was quite interesting in spite of the fact that I don’t follow football! I’ve got a few questions for you. HOw long have you participated in fantasy football and how’s your season going? And those videos of players were hilarious! Out of curiosity, who’s on your roster and which of their videos are your favorites?

molly111: magichodge: /slideshow Love the images of playing cards! Nice design throughout. Question: How does social media affect learning, beyond cost and accessibility of instruction/information? What social media has done to learning is (apart from making it more accessible) made it easier. Where, in the past, one may have needed to read a book as the primary source of learning or find...

hallewri111: magichodge: /slideshow I thought it was really interesting that you have to pay money to view/learn more complex card tricks and that they have a copywrite so that they can’t be shown on youtube. malloryfyw: magichodge: /slideshow One of the things that I found most interesting in your presentation was the copyright issue. It makes sense, but I never really thought about not being able to perform or watch a certain trick because of it. Is that ever frustrating for you when you want to learn something new or show off a trick you’ve acquired on YouTube? Also, the flourishing and tricks...

hallewri111: I thought it was hilarious when you brought up the example of the forum category for casual discussion! It’s actually really interesting, especially since I encounter this all the time. Response to "I Tweet Honestly, I Tweet...
While skimming the article, what captured my interest was what the article went about studying — the imagined audience of Twitter users. Exactly what is the audience the majority of Twitter users imagine? To whom do Twitter users believe they are tweeting? Perhaps the audience is a group of friends, sought-after celebrities, etc. In my own personal experience with Twitter for my first-year...

Twitter: "pointless babble" or peripheral... →
What struck me as particularly interesting in this article was how the author referenced a study of Tweets where the creators of the study categorized the Tweets and ended up with a percentage for each of the Tweets that were “pointless babble,” “converstaional,” “self-promotional,” etc. The author then went on to counter the study by stating that the majority...

Evan Williams on Listening to Twitter Users →
This is quite an interesting TED talk by Evan Williams. I found it particularly interesting because he speaks about user-feedback and incorporating it into developing Twitter to be something also crafted by the users. What most impressed me was that Twitter was just a “hunch” and Mr. Williams just decided to “go with it.” It makes one wonder exactly how many random ideas...

What is Twitter's Function?
Responding to the Twitter article we read for class, I’m wondering exactly what people find as twitter’s necessity. Sure, as the article states, we are social creatures. However, how many social networking and media sites are actually necessary? What do they accomplish? Do I really need to read what celebritys eat for breakfast? The article states that about % of the posts on Twitter...

Ryan Cordell, "Unfriening for Sanity" →
“Facebook friends” and “unfriending” those who are not particularly close friends of mine have been matters I’ve thought about for quite sometime. What’s more is how much of a commonality the issue is among facebook users. Cordell says that he did not want to insult anyone by not accepting their friend request. And this is something that many empathize with....

Ryan Singel on Blogging
Some interesting points I thought Singel brought up in his article Blogging ‘Peaks,’ But Reports of Its Death Are Exaggerated were (one) that he addressed the unorthodoxy of the word blogging and how it is struggling to find a place in social media today and (two) the observation that blogging isn’t necessarily “peaking” or “declining” but rather, the...

Christopher Poole on Cyber Anonymity
I found Mr. Poole’s lecture on anonymity quite interesting. I, for one, believe that there certainly is a a place in social media for anonymity. Trivial things that do not require a persona attached to the comment are great examples (Mr. Poole’s example of 4chan). And the fact that anonymity remains makes the personified communities all the stronger because the people of which they are...

"Facebook as Tastemaker"
I found this article to be particularly interesting. It makes me wonder, how much more will users really want out of Facebook before they tire of using it? As Somini Sengupta and Ben Sisario say, “Trying to be all things to all people was the undoing of Microsoft and AOL. If Facebook continues to overreach, they will stumble.”
