Christopher Poole on Cyber Anonymity
I found Mr. Poole’s lecture on anonymity quite interesting. I, for one, believe that there certainly is a a place in social media for anonymity. Trivial things that do not require a persona attached to the comment are great examples (Mr. Poole’s example of 4chan). I found this article to be particularly interesting. It makes me wonder, how much more will users really want out of Facebook before they tire of using it? As Somini Sengupta and Ben Sisario say, “Trying to be all things to all people was the undoing of Microsoft and AOL. If Facebook continues to overreach, they will stumble.”

It’s interesting to see that others are finding Wikipedia a helpful site for surprisingly in-depth knowledge about hobbies, interests, etc. It’s been extremely helpful to me in my pursuit of things like Capoeira, juggling, and others!
